Information for authors We look forward to your contribution offers!

[Deutsche Version]

Manuscripts can be submitted in German and English. All articles must contain an English abstract of about 200 words. Manuscripts are only accepted if they are created and submitted as a Word document using the template document (see link below). In addition, all layout and format specifications of the Herbert von Halem publishing house for text and bibliography (see link below) must be taken into account. Image files must be submitted separately in sufficient resolution (as tif files with min. 300 dpi or 1000 x 1000 px) (see link below). The authors are also responsible for clarifying any image rights. For submissions as well as for issues of IMAGE that are realized by means of a call for papers, a double anonymous review procedure is applicable, which is described in more detail under “Guidelines”. There is no deadline for submission. After successful review, the editors decide in which edition the submitted text will appear. The authors assign the rights to this publication to Herbert von Halem Verlag, which makes the articles available as open source. They remain permanently accessible in the publisher’s archive.

Guidelines and Procedure of the Double-Blind Peer Review

The reviewers are the members of the Editorial Board of IMAGE and the Scientific Advisory Board of GiB. The submitted papers are sent anonymously to two members of the Editorial Board for review. Based on a standardized evaluation form, the latter draw up an expert opinion taking into account the following criteria:

  • The title of the article is meaningful and appropriate to the content of the text.
  • The abstract accurately reflects the content of the article.
  • The intention of the contribution becomes clear.
  • The relevance of the topic covered in the article is well highlighted.
  • The research methods used are presented in an understandable way.
  • The research methods used are applied correctly and appropriately.
  • The state of research is adequately taken into account and presented.
  • The text is adequately and sensibly provided with illustrations.
  • The illustrations and tables used are understandable.
  • The theoretical/empirical results are linked to the current state of research.
  • The conclusion/discussion is supported by the previous statements in the text.
  • The article is easy to read.
  • The reasoning is understandable and logical.
  • The contribution leads to a gain in professional knowledge.
  • The content of the article fits in with the discourse of IMAGE.
  • The paper uses formally correct scientific working techniques.

The opinions make one of the following four recommendations:

  1. Acceptance of the manuscript without request for revision
  2. Acceptance of the manuscript with the request for revision (no re-evaluation required after revision)
  3. Rejection of the manuscript with the request for fundamental revision (re-evaluation after revision recommended)
  4. Fundamental Rejection of the Manuscript

In the case of: 2. and 3. the authors receive the manuscript with (anonymous) comments and markings in the document, including the review form, back for revision.
