Tanjev Schultz, born in 1974, is a Professor of the Principles and Strategies of Journalism at the Department of Journalism/Department of Communication at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Before this, he spent more than ten years as a political editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung, reporting on education policy, internal security, terrorism and extremism. Tanjev Schultz completed his doctorate at the University of Bremen with a thesis on the discourse theory of Jürgen Habermas and the empirical evidence of political talk shows. His undergraduate and graduate studies were in Journalism, Philosophy, Psychology, Political Science and Literature at the Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Hagen and Indiana University’s School of Journalism (now School of Media) in Bloomington (USA).
